South Florida has a thriving arts scene whose profile is rising globally. The region is home to North America's only Art Basel show, which attracts about 100,000 visitors from all over the world to Miami Beach. The annual December event has spawned smaller, satellite art shows that draw their own fair share of visitors.
About 1 million visitors each year visit Miami's Wynwood, famous for the Wynwood Walls art murals that made the neighborhood the thriving destination it is now. Broward County and Palm Beach County each have their own thriving arts districts, including FAT Village in Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach's Pineapple Grove.
A recent addition to South Florida's robust museum offerings, which includes the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and the Pérez Art Museum Miami, is the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, which opened in May. Click here to take a photo tour.
